Barnsley ponder legal action over football challenge

Barnsley football club are considering taking legal action after Canada international striker Iain Hume suffered a fractured skull and internal bleeding in Saturday's game versus Sheffield United. Hume appeared to be caught by an elbow as both players challenged for a ball in the 35th minute of the match.

Hume aged 25, had emergency surgery at a Manchester hospital on Sunday, and has since moved out of a high dependency unit, but faces six months on the sidelines.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey said that the club may be seeking legal advice on the matter. Sheffield defender Morgan, a former Barnsley player, was booked over the incident by referee Andy D'Urso, who sent 2 players off prior to this incident.

Davey claimed both he and assistant manager Brian Kidd had raised concerns over Hume's treatment with referee D'Urso at half-time.
